Island Peak Climbing
Island peak climbing is one of the popular climbing peak of Everest regions. It has got its name as island peak in 1952 AD due to the stunning location in the middle of the Chhukung valley which looks like the island on the sea of ice. Later it was renamed as Imja Tse though the peak is still popular by the the original name. There are about 33 peaks at that region, Island peak is one of the most popular peak which will offers its climbers with the exhilarating and panoramic view of mountains along with the life time remembering experience of mountain climbing. It is situated at the Everest region with the height of 6160m. To climb over to this mountain, trekkers need sound body and health. We may need to acclimatize ourselves at different places for the better experience of the surrounding area.
The trekking to this area begins with the flight over to Lukla from Kathmandu. From Lukla, the trekking route will follow the main trail of Everest base camp through the Namche bazaar, Khumjung, Phortse, Dingboche, and Lobuche and to the base camp of Everest Mountain. The return way will be from the Pangboche and Tengboche which will ultimately arrive to Lukla and back to Kathmandu with the spectacular flight. Due to its height ,especially the season during October, November, December, January, February, March, April, May, June July is considered as the best season of trekking at these regions. The maximum altitude that we will trek is 6160m at the peak of island peak.
Day 01: Arrival to Kathmandu
Upon your arrival at Kathmandu at TIA, a representative of A Nepal Trek will warmly welcome you to Nepal. She/he will guide you towards the hotel room of Nepal. The day can be either rest day or some sightseeing day of Kathmandu. The night will be at the hotel by discussing about the tour and enjoying the delicious dinner.
Day 02: Kathmandu to Lukla and trek to Phakding
Early morning, we will catch the flight to Lukla from Kathmandu. Throughout the flight, we will enjoy the view of great ranges of mountain through the flight. The view of snow capped mountains from the top will obviously interesting. After landing at Lukla, we will move towards the Phakding following the main trail. The trekking goes for about 3 to 4 hours.
Day 03: Phakding to Namche Bazaar
From Phakding, we will start our journey early in the morning. We will move forward to Namche bazaar. The phenomenon goes for about 5 to 6 hours. The trail follows the Dudh Koshi River which will enables us to enter into the Sagarmatha national park. Continuing our trail, we will reach to Phakding through the main trail. The night will be fantastic at Namche bazaar at 3440m.
Day 04: Namche bazaar to Dole
From Namche bazaar, the trail goes steeply towards the Kyangjuma village from where we can have a splendid view of mountains ranges all around us. We will have our lunch on the way to Dole. The admirable view around the trail will surely mesmerizes us. The way to Dole goes with the combination of Mountain View along with some beautiful scene of waterfalls and forests. We will stay the night at Dole.
Day 05: Dole to Machherma
From Dole, at first the path goes steeply to the Lhabarma at 4220m to Luza at 4360m. The trail will offers us many glittering view of Cho Oyu, Kantega and Thamserku. While trekking at this place we need to acclimatize ourselves with the increasing altitudes. After a incredible walk of about 4 to 5 hours, we will be able to reach at Machherma at 4410m.
Day 06: Machherma to Gokyo
Early morning, we will trek towards the Gokyo from Machherma. The trail descends to the river and then begins to climb over to Ngozumpa glacier. Viewing the panoramic scenery around the region, we will move forwards through the main trail. We can explore around the lakes of Gokyo if we got some leisure time. The night will be spectacular a Gokyo at 4794m.
Day 07: Gokyo rest day
Te day can be taken as rest day. But we will explore around the place later of the day. We will climb up to the peak of Gokyo from where we will get the splendid view of other mountain ranges all around us. After viewing some incredible view from the peak, we will descend back to Gokyo where we will spend the night again.
Day 08: Gokyo to Na
From Gokyo, we will hike towards the Gokyo Ri to the altitude of 5496m from where we can get the splendid view of mountain ranges including the highest peak of the world. A hike for about 2 hours will take us to the top. We will return back to Gokyo and trek towards Na the same day. The night will be at Na at 4390m.
Day 09: Na to Phortse
From Na, we will descend towards the Phortse following the way opposite to Dudh Koshi River. The path is regarded easy as it goes flatter for some while. Then a steep down track through the village will lead us towards the Phortse. Phortse is a magnificent village situated under the shadows of huge mountains at 3542m.
Day 10: Trek to Dingboche
From Phortse, early morning, we will move towards the Dingboche following the path viewing some spectacular view of mountain ranges of Khumbu region. We can spend a day or two day at Dingboche. But as A Nepal Trek suggests we will continue our way without resting the day at Dingboche at 4336m.
Day 11: Dingboche to Lobuche
From Dingboche, our trail will leads us towards the Lobuche after crossing several bridges of the way. We will pass through the Khumbu glacier to Lobuche. After walking for a while from Lobuche, we will reach to Nuptse from where we can get the spectacular view of sunrise and sunsets. The night will be spectacular at Lobuche after a trekking of about 4 to 5 hours.
Day 12: Lobuche to Kalapatthar and Gorakshep
We will start the day a bit earlier than ever as we need to pass along distance. At first, we will start the trek towards the west side going steeper before reaching to Gorakshep. Throughout the day, we will see the spectacular view of great ranges of mountains all around us. After spending some time at Gorak shep, we will move towards the Kalapatthar to the height of 5600m from where the crystal clear view of Mount Everest can be seen. We will spend the cold night at Gorak shep at tented camp.
Day 13: Gorak shep to Everest base camp and to Lobuche
This day is also the long trekking day as we move early in the morning to the Everest base camp. The 3 hour trekking to the snowy path will be enough to reach at Everest base camp. After spending some incredible moments at Everest base camp, we will return back to Lobuche through the same way as we move up. The trekking goes for 8 to 10 hours.
Day 14: Lobuche to Chhukung
From Lobuche, we will trek through the Khumbu glaciers to Kongma la base camp and will climb to the top to Kongma pass. From the top, we will make a gradual descend to the beautiful valley of Imja khola to Chhukung. The night will be at Chhukung at 4730m.
Day 15: Chhukung to Island peak base camp
From Chhukung, we will start our key day early in the morning with the early morning journey to the island peak base camp. We will walk through the snowy way through the Lhotse glaciers. We will reach at island peak base camp after the trekking for about 3 to 4 hours. Due to tits toughness, the short distance is also tiresome.
Day 16: island peak base camp to High camp
From the base camp, we will move towards the beautiful but very tough way of the high camp. We will trek following the path to the night will be at the high camp at the height of 5600m after the trekking of about 3 to 4 hours in the snowy path.
Day 17: High camp to summit and back to Chhukung
Today is the main day of our long trekking. We will wake up early in the morning to resume our climbing. We will be eager to achieve the height at the peak of Island peak. We will walk through the rough way to the top from where we will view the most panoramic view of surrounding. We will surely enjoy the summit views and will return soon from the top towards the high camp and base camp and up to the Chhukung to spend the night over there.
Day 18: Chhukung to Namche bazaar
After achieving our dream project, we will trek following the path to Imja khola which will later joins Dudh khola. We will have an easy trek to Chhukung for about 8 to 9 hours. The returning journey will be fantastic as we have a sense of pleasure in our heart. We will enjoy the breeze of the air while returning the Namche bazaar. We will have a resting night at Namche bazaar.
Day 19: Namche bazaar to Lukla
From Namche bazaar, we will trek through the smooth surface of the Everest region. We will make the journey entertaining by viewing the surrounding area along with interacting with the
